How Do You Win the Crowd?
Wednesday, 25 February 2009
Yesterday I
wrote a post, Are you “Winning the Crowd”?, somewhat related to me watching the movie Gladiator again, and I promised to finish that post today, after I finished watching it. So, here I am, fulfilling that promise.
I took from watching that movie this message, HONESTY, being true to yourself, and to others, is more important than just about any other thing. Maximus was true to himself, his family, and to his emperor’s idea. Without getting “political”, what I felt was Maximus’ emperor’s idea was for the “crowd”, or better said, the people’s needs were more important than the royal family’s needs, or that of the “ruling class”.
Yesterday, I also mentioned something about some marketers using PERSONAL in their email marketing emails. To try and tie the message that I got from the movie Gladiator, and what I was talking about yesterday is what I hope to do now.
If I were to not be true to you, or to myself, how far do you think I would go, ethically, in the business of internet marketing, or even marketing in general? Do you believe that I would be successful, or do you think that I might get a few bucks now, but be found out in the future, and not be as successful as I could have been, had I been HONEST from the start, and in all of my internet marketing endeavors?
I truly believe that being transparent, being HONEST is the best path to success, and that’s what I strive for. If only everyone were like that, eh?
I’ve been working at internet, and affiliate marketing for some time now, and have signed up to more than a few “lists” during that time, in the interest of educating myself to be better at working from home, and trying to “quit my day job”. When I decided to blog on this particular topic, I did a simple search through my gmail account, and found HUNDREDS of emails from some of those lists, that had PERSONAL in the subject line. Care to guess how many of those emails were actually PERSONAL? I don’t rightly know, but from memory, not very many…
I’m not going to name names, though I’m sure more than a few of you, my valued Extra Cash Systems Weblog readers, would like to know some of them. I will say this, if you have “subscribed” to any, or many of the “bigger” named marketer’s lists, you may know about who I am referring to. Of course, it isn’t limited to the big names, by any means.
Tomorrow, I’ll expound, provide further thoughts, on this, if that is okay with you… And maybe, even if it isn’t, LOL…
Be Well!

Yes i agree honesty is the best policy.. People can see through most lies however i find alot of people assume it is lies (or missleading exagerations) with a lot of these lists yet the curiousity is what keeps them there..

I also agree with you. Being honest and actually thinking about your readers than your profits is the answer to success. Profits will come if once you establish a trust with your readers, make them a part of your marketing strategies and promote those products which you think will really work for your readers.
